What Strollers are Compatible with the Nuna Pipa Lite?
The Nuna Pipa has been our most popular infant car seat for years, and so many were excited to hear they were making an even lighter seat for 2017. Not only did they deliver with the Nuna Pipa Lite, they also added the Nuna Pipa Lite LX in 2018! The newest version, the Nuna Pipa Lite LX, has their signature Dream Drape and is chemical flame retardant free.
We delved into the differences between all the seats just a bit ago, so you can find all the details here. That said, we’ve had so many inquiries into which strollers these car seats work with, so we’re breaking it all down for you!
In order to properly break this down, I’ll start by giving you a little background about the history of the adapters Nuna infant car seats use.
You may have heard of Maxi Cosi while doing your research. They were the first major European car seat brand to gain a foothold in the US. Because of this, adapters for their seats are available for a surprisingly wide array of strollers. Any European car seat entering our market since then has made their car seats compatible with Maxi Cosi adapters (this includes Cybex, Clek, and Nuna). These adapters are easy and cheap to produce, and while they might not be the easiest to use, they’re a good way to help a company gain a foothold here. Nuna recognizes this and offers an easier-to-use adapter for certain strollers, but I’ll explain that in a bit. For more details about the differences between adapters, feel free to check out this blog post.
If you love the Nuna Pipa, Nuna Pipa Lite, or Nuna Pipa Lite LX, the absolute easiest way to use the car seat on a stroller is with their ring adapter. Nuna only makes this adapter for three strollers: the Nuna Mixx and Nuna Mixx Next, the Bugaboo Cameleon3, the UPPAbaby Vista V2, and UPPAbaby Cruz V2. So these strollers are definitely your easiest bets.
But that doesn’t mean you’re limited to using those 3 strollers. Because of Nuna’s ability to use Maxi Cosi adapters, the Nuna Pipa, Nuna Pipa Lite, and Nuna Pipa Lite LX are able to work with so many different strollers. The original Nuna Pipa is able to work with nearly all the strollers we sell because of this.
But something strange happens when the Nuna Pipa Lite and Nuna Pipa Lite LX come into play. For some reason, which has so far been undiagnosed, both car seats sometimes have issues using Maxi Cosi adapters. What this essentially means is that we at Magic Beans don’t suggest the Nuna Pipa Lite in conjunction with certain strollers unless we have physically confirmed that it fits. So far, we have tested both the Nuna Pipa Lite and Nuna Pipa Lite LX on almost all of the strollers we carry. Unfortunately, we are unable to try it on anything that we do not carry.
Before we get started, we wanted to remind you that these stroller brands haven’t necessarily tested these combinations with the Nuna Pipa Lite and Nuna Pipa Lite LX themselves, and therefore they might not officially recommend them. But rest assured we’ve tested everything ourselves at our stores. So here’s a running list of what does and does not work with the Pipa Lite and Pipa Lite LX.
