Do you know Wikki Stix?
If you don’t, you should. Wikki Stix are a lifesaver for parents who are hoping to keep kids quietly engaged for any period of time. They are basically a strand of yarn coated in a non-toxic, food-grade wax similar to what you’d find on a shiny red apple. The yarn is flexible, and the wax is sticky enough to bond to itself and other surfaces, but solid enough that it doesn’t really leave any unwanted residue.
You can do an astonishing array of activities with them. From connect-the-dots to creating little 3D creatures to making jewelry and other decorative pieces, kids never seem to get tired of the possibilities. When we go on vacation, I always pack plenty of these in my airplane carry-on and in my diaper bag for meals out. They’re also fun for parents, so it’s an easy way to engage everyone at the table when you’re waiting for food to arrive. Check out their website to see images of kids’ creations from all around the world.
