Day 31: Sunshine Kids Car Seats
This past week, I completed my Child Passenger Safety Technician training, and I’ve been eating, sleeping and breathing car seats. So it is timely that we’re capping off the 31 Days of Giveaways with not one but THREE car seats from Sunshine Kids.
Car seat misuse is a rampant problem – by some estimates, up to 90% of car seats in the USA are being used improperly. Parents are always asking us what the safest car seat is, and the “correct” answer to that question is, any seat car seat that meets FMVSS 213 (the mandatory federal standard that any seat sold in the United States must meet), is not recalled or expired (typically 6-7 years after the date of manufacturer), that fits your car, fits your child and you’ll use correctly every time is going to be safest.
With that said, not all car seats are created equal. We have been longtime fans of the Sunshine Kids car seats, and over the course of this past week, my appreciation for them has only grown. The Radian car seats were designed from the ground up to provide exceptional strength and energy absorption. The steel alloy frame with aluminum-reinforced sides does make these seats heavier than their plastic counterparts, but they also fold flat for easy storage and transport.
Buying a Radian car seat (or any car seat, for that matter) is not enough though. Learning how to use it and install it is critical to making sure you’re taking full advantage of all the technology and engineering that went into the seat. The best way to do that is to make an appointment with a local CPST. Soon you’ll be able to do that right at Magic Beans. Along with me, we also certified two of our store associates, and now we are on our way to launching our brand new car seat installation program. Stay tuned for details.
Meanwhile, for our last day of 31 Days of Giveaways, we’re going to have three winners. We’re giving away a Radian 80, a Radian XTSL and a Monterey High-Back Booster Seat, all from Sunshine Kids. Enter to win now and good luck!
