Britax Boulevard Recall

Britax has just announced a voluntary recall of the Boulevard car seat. Apparently, they’ve realized that the top tether hook can release or break when the seat is used in the forward-facing position with a child over 50 lbs. For the time being, Britax is asking consumers to stop using the top tether once the child’s weight reaches 50 lbs. Evidently, if that measure is taken, the seat is safe to use up to 65 lbs. It doesn’t appear that Britax is planning any sort of repair kit.

The recall applies to seats manufactured between March 1, 2006 and August 1, 2006. No accidents or injuries have been reported; this flaw was discovered through internal crash dummy testing. If you have a Boulevard, you can call the Britax Recall Information Line at 800-682-2045 with any questions. Please have the model number and manufacture date handy when you call.
