Bugaboo Dragonfly Stroller Review

Bugaboo Dragonfly Stroller 2024 Review | Completely Unique

The Bugaboo Dragonfly continues to be a new parent favorite in the Bugaboo lineup of baby strollers. And in 2024, it's now part of the Bugaboo’s taupe collection. This bugaboo dragonfly comes in beautiful taupe colors, there is dune taupe and desert taupe_  a little bit of dark taupe.

I've rarely seen a stroller do something completely unique but the Bugaboo dragonfly does it. If you're shopping for a stroller in 2024, this stroller really should be on your list.

It's an amazing stroller and great for the city and the suburbs.  So,  if you're researching baby gear stay a while_ I'm here to give you a full Bugaboo Dragonfly review focusing on the stroller's functionality and unique features. This review will help you decide if it's the right choice.

Main Features of Bugaboo Dragonfly Stroller

Bugaboo Dragonfly Stroller Review Features

First, let’s take a closer look at the Bugaboo Dragonfly's unique features that set it apart from other strollers.

Unique Bassinet Fold

The dragonfly is super cool_  you can get it with a bassinet and with a stroller seat.  The bassinet is perfectly flat for newborn babies whose neck muscles are developing in the first couple of months of their lives.  Having the baby perfectly flat is the optimal way for them to ride around. Unlike traditional bassinets, the Dragonfly's bassinet folds compactly with the frame. This is a significant space-saver, especially for urban living.

Car Seat Compatibility

Another cool thing about the Dragonfly is that you can also use this with car seat adapters. It is compatible with car adaptors like Bugaboo Turtle Air or Nuna Pipa Air RX. This allows for a smooth transition between the car and the stroller without disturbing your baby.

Multiple Modes for Different Stages

Bugaboo Dragonfly Stroller Bassinet Review

The Dragonfly is a true all-in-one city stroller. Here's how it adapts to your child's growth:

  • Bassinet Mode: Perfect for newborns, the bassinet provides a flat, comfortable surface for safe and supported naps on the go.
  • Infant Car Seat Compatibility: The Dragonfly works with several infant car seats with the help of adapters.
  • Toddler Seat Mode: Once your child can sit up independently, the reversible seat allows forward-facing or parent-facing positioning. The seat reclines for comfortable naps, and the adjustable footrest ensures proper leg support as your child grows.

Compact Fold

Another feature of the Dragonfly that I like is its compact fold, even with the bassinet or seat attached. This makes it ideal for storing in small spaces or car trunks. Folding the stroller involves pulling the black strap near the handle.

Comfort for Baby and Parent

Bugaboo prioritizes comfort in all their strollers, and the Dragonfly is no exception. The seat padding is soft and breathable, ensuring a comfy ride for your little one. The adjustable handlebar allows parents of various heights to push comfortably, reducing back strain.

Carry Strap and Folding:

There is a little carry strap on the side as well. So, if you live on a walk-up, you have to take the stroller and you have to put it over your shoulder. By the way, if you have a walk up speak to your neighbors in advance because they may be very generous to you and let you leave the stroller downstairs. So, you don't have to walk up. I know this is a personal experience but then you take it, put it back lift it up.  open it up and then you take the little black strap, you pull that towards you and it opens right back up, and put your baby back in.

Expandable Canopy:

The sun canopy extends to give your baby extra shade on sunny days. There's even a mesh panel underneath that lets in air to keep your little one cool during warmer weather.

Perfect for City and Suburbs

The Bugaboo Dragonfly is especially helpful in crowded places like sidewalks and busy streets. The wheels are also specially designed to roll smoothly over different types of ground, so you can take your little one on adventures in the city or on walks around the neighborhood.

Storage Pocket:

There's a secret pocket on the back of the stroller frame where you can stash small items like car seat adapters or wipes. This pocket can also be detached and hung on the handlebar for even easier access.

Footmuff

If you live in a cold climate, you might want to consider getting a footmuff (sold separately) to keep your baby warm and snug during walks. The footmuff even works with other baby strollers, not just Bugaboo!

What We Liked in This City Stroller?

  • The Dragonfly's carrycot folds down with the chassis. It saves space in your apartment or car.
  • Has a large storage basket and a detachable rear pocket that can be used on the handlebar.
  • It is lightweight, easy to carry, and smooth to steer
  • Folds and stands independently, keeping your hands free and your stroller upright.
  • Sun canopy with an additional extension provides shade and protection for your little one on sunny days.
  • Modern look with high-quality materials
  • The sliding straps move easily up and down, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit for your child.

What Needs to Be Improved?

  • The recline mechanism can be a bit stiff initially. It requires some practice for smooth adjustments.
  • One-handed fold and unfolding might be tricky and take some time to master.
  • Unfortunately, a rain cover isn't included, which is surprising considering the price tag. This adds an unexpected extra cost to your purchase.
  • Bugaboo strollers are known for their quality, but they come with a premium price tag.

Is the Bugaboo Dragonfly Easy to Clean?

Yes! The Bugaboo Dragonfly fabrics are machine washable at 30°C for easy cleaning. However, carrycot fabric and faux leather handlebar are not machine washable. Wipe them clean with a damp cloth for easy maintenance.

The dark color option hides stains well, but any fabric can be spot-cleaned for a fresh look.

Bottom Line: Is it Worth the Money?

If you live in the city and want a stroller that folds small, is sustainable, and offers comfort and style, then the Dragonfly is the best baby stroller you need to consider. Its easy steering and sun protection features are ideal for busy sidewalks and sunny days. Plus, the versatility of the storage pockets and the ability to use it with a car seat make it a true travel system.

Here's the thing: compared to other strollers, the Dragonfly has a bigger frame. This makes it great for city adventures and suburban walks.

However, its price tag itself is on the higher end. If the price doesn't faze you, the Bugaboo Dragonfly can be a fantastic city stroller. But if budget is a major concern, there might be better options out there.
