Travelogue
Tonight I discovered that my hotel has free wireless internet in the lobby. This was handy, since I’ve been buying internet access in 30 minute intervals and then racing maniacally to get everything done before my time runs out. So I’ve been enjoying relaxing in the lobby and doing some housekeeping. Tomorrow, we leave for Norway.
I’ve really enjoyed Cologne. 95% of the city was destroyed during World War II, and so it’s a hodgepodge of unimpressive 1950’s budget architecture with a smattering of exquisite old buildings. The city is small and packed with great shops, cafes and brauhauses. These people like their beer.
The show has been educational. The Europeans really go all out at these shows. The booths are just amazing, and there’s a lot of innovation, style and flair. I’ve taken a lot of photos, and I’m slowly but surely putting the highlights into the blog.
More than anything, though, it’s been incredibly rewarding to travel with this group of people. It’s so unusual to have the opportunity to sit down with other retailers and share ideas, compare notes and just appreciate the things we have in common. Our Stokke hosts have been so gracious and generous, and it’s been a treat getting to know them, too.
Oslo, here we come.
