The Bugaboo Fox 2018 vs Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Stroller

I know what you’re thinking. You had your heart set on a Bugaboo Cameleon, Donkey2, or Buffalo, and then the Fox came along and made you question your commitment. Don’t feel guilty, though. It’s quite the head-turner.

So if you were previously a Cameleon 3 fan and now you’re eyeing the Bugaboo Fox Stroller, you’re wondering what the differences are between the two. Let’s break it all down.

Essentially, the Bugaboo Cameleon is a simpler version of the Fox. The Cameleon starts at $999 and the Fox starts at $1,199, but some of those extra features on the Fox might be totally worth it for you. And for all the stroller junkies out there, you’ll notice that the Fox looks a bit different than the Bugaboo Strollers of the past. The Fox’s contours are a bit more rounded compared to the sharp and angular strollers they’re known for. But when you’re talking style, it all comes down to preference.

Whether you go for the Bugaboo Cameleon or the Bugaboo Fox, you and your baby are going to experience the smoothest and most comfortable ride. We really recommend test driving them, they’re amazing! Both the Cameleon 3 and the Fox have foam-filled tires and a great suspension system, but the wheels on the Fox are a bit larger. If you’re a family that hits the trails a lot, the Fox’s wheels will push better through tough terrain. But both strollers will glide over bumpy city sidewalks with ease. Although the Cameleon has smaller wheels, it does have a reversible handlebar. You can push the stroller with the larger wheels in the front when you’re trudging through a snowy sidewalk.

Another huge factor to consider is the stroller’s weight limit. The Bugaboo Fox Stroller holds a child up to 48.5lbs, and the Cameleon holds a child up to 37.5lbs. Depending on how quickly your child grows, you’ll probably get more use out of the Fox. But keep in mind that most kids nix their stroller at three years old, and most three-year-olds weigh from 25 to 38 pounds.

And lastly, is it even a stroller review if you don’t talk about the fold? You’re not going to get a crazy compact fold with either of these, but that’s to be expected with fully-featured strollers like the Fox and Cameleon 3. But the Bugaboo Fox Stroller has, wait for it, a standing one-piece fold! This comes as a huge relief to parents who weren’t huge fans of the Cameleon’s two-piece fold. If you’re low on space and need to store your stroller upright, the Fox might be for you. If not, then this feature isn’t a huge dealbreaker. Some parents actually prefer carrying two lighter pieces as opposed to one heavier piece.
