Team Works

It’s not an easy thing to open a store, whether it’s your first, your fourth or your four-hundredth. There’s so much that goes into it, from design to construction to ordering fixtures and merchandise to receiving that merchandise and putting it on the fixtures. There are so many details to remember.

Getting it done with months of preparation is challenging. Doing it in less than a month during the height of the holiday season is insane. Our mentors in the industry told us as much in no uncertain terms. “You guys are nuts,” read one email. “You’re crazy. You know that, right?” read another.

If we’d been doing it alone, it would have been crazy. There’s no way two people can manage three stores, a holiday season and three kids and live to tell about it, let alone add a fourth store to the mix.

But we weren’t alone. And that’s made all the difference.

We have amazing people who work here. Watching the teamwork at every stage of the past four weeks has been overwhelming. Our lease was signed on November 9. Twenty-six days later the store is open. It should have been impossible but it wasn’t. Because everyone in this company came together and made it happen. Everyone. Whether they did it by working directly on the Cambridge store, or by handling all the other things that needed to get done while others were focusing on Cambridge. I’m so grateful to all of you.
