Strategery in Phoenix
I’m back from my vacation – thanks for bearing with me while I took a break from writing. While we were kicking back in Phoenix, I took the opportunity to do some toy testing with my kids and my family. We are big time game players, a trait that seems to be genetically hardwired, so when my extended family gets together, we play games.
This year, my cousin turned 14 while we were on our trip, so I brought him three of my favorite games, a Bedlam Cube, Dao and Pentago. All three were huge hits. The Bedlam cube captured everyone’s attention, and many members of my family tried to solve the puzzle to no avail. Dao is a strategy game I liked at Toy Fair. It’s a more challenging take on tic tac toe, and it was definitely entertaining. But Pentago was the real superstar. Although I’m personally awful at the game, my chess-loving uncle and cousin spent hours dueling each other and anyone else who cared to take them on.
