Silver Cross Coast Stroller Review 2020 | FULL STROLLER REVIEW (RATINGS | REVIEW)
Silver Cross is one of the oldest, most prestigious stroller companies in the world. They’ve been making strollers for over 140 years! The company even has a long history with royalty - King George VI was the first royal customer. Queen Elizabeth II pushed a baby Prince Charles in the Rolls Royce of prams in the early 1940s. And Kate Middleton has recently kept this tradition going in this millennium. They are still based in England (now in Yorkshire from its original location in Leeds) and their coach prams are still built in a very similar fashion from their 1877 model - with a few technology and manufacturing updates, it still features it’s unmatched C-suspension and leather straps which create its unique “bounce.” Yes, you can still push the same type of pram that royalty has pushed for over 100 years. But that’s not all they make...
Few companies as old as Silver Cross have been able to keep up with the modern family - new and unique demands come with every new generation - but they have. From the Wave to the newer, lighter model, the Coast - Silver Cross has kept up with what the new millennium wants AND needs with full functional single to double strollers.
The Coast, as mentioned above, is slightly lighter than its predecessor, the Wave (~3lbs). And while it doesn’t have some of the ultra sleek features the Wave has (like the quilting inside the bassinet fabric to give it a more lavish look), it still comes with almost everything you need right out of the box, from the seat + bassinet to a cup holder + mosquito net. You are good to go from day one (with the bassinet or car seat) to 55lbs (with the main seat). And not only that, it easily becomes a double stroller, with the addition of a tandem seat.
Silver Cross makes some of the few tandem strollers that allow a bassinet on top with its integrated upper adapters (no need to pick up extra little pieces to make your stroller a double!). Have your littlest one close to you in their bassinet and your little one (up to 45lbs) in the tandem seat. They can face the world, or the back of the bassinet or car seat. This may sound like this is the “crummy” seat, but what we think might be crummy and what kids think can be very different things (I was the weirdo kid that LOVED small, dark spaces while my mom was claustrophobic). The same goes when your littlest one graduates to the stroller seat - the two can face each other, face opposite directions, or the same direction (either you or the world). WHEW. There are a total of 27 configurations you can come up with!
The hearty frame, made of magnesium and aluminum, makes this tandem easier to push than other tandems on the market (whether you’re using it as a tandem or a single, the push is smooooth). And it feels luxurious. The high quality fabrics and stitching feel soft and rich in your hands and on your baby’s skin. The included seat liner keeps things extra cozy, but also makes it easier to keep the stroller seat clean. The bassinet is suited for overnight sleep and is made with bamboo fibers, making it easier to keep your baby’s temperature regulated. This stroller is figuratively and literally fit for a king or queen, which is perfect for you and your baby.
