Project Nursery: Boston weekend is coming soon! Spotlight on Stokke & Oeuf
Leading up to our Project Nursery: Boston weekend, we’re profiling participating companies. Get to know our nursery brands, and find the furniture and accessories that are perfect for you!
Stokke
Sometimes, you have to go a little afield to find exactly what you need. If you’re looking for products with modern, clever design that adjusts to your child as he grows, then perhaps you might want to look to Europe when you’re choosing nursery furniture.
Stokke, of Norway, is famous for unusual-looking baby products with extended use – for instance, the Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair, a perennial bestseller that adjusts to provide a comfortable seat for everyone from babies to adults, and the Xplory Stroller, which boosts babies up high so they can see the world from their stroller seat. The Stokke Sleepi Crib also has a completely unique look – it’s an oval crib! – and it can convert into four different configurations to perfectly suit children from infancy right up to the tween years. The Stokke Sleepi starts out as a circular bassinet, converts to an oval crib, and then converts to a toddler bed and on to a junior bed. It grows in length, fits through doors, and is made with beautiful and sturdy solid beech wood, ensuring that, with the proper conversion kits, you can get a full 10 years out of your Sleepi.
How much do we love the Sleepi? As Sheri Gurock, co-owner of Magic Beans puts it, “I have two Sleepi systems in my house, and love them and think every parent should have one.”
Oeuf
For Euro style that’s a little closer to home, we look to New York City, where French-born Sophie Demenge and her husband Michael Ryan founded Oeuf. Sophie studied philosophy at the Sorbonne, and then moved to the US, where she took trapeze classes, studied art, studied industrial design, and met and married Michael.
When their daughter Mae was born, in 2002, Demenge couldn’t find the simple, stylish, and non-toxic nursery furnishings she craved – so she set about making them herself. Oeuf products are designed “with the use of the child in mind,” and, like the Sleepi, Oeuf cribs are meant to grow with your child – just add a toddler bed rail, and your crib becomes a toddler bed. Add a trundle bed, and you’ve got room for another child, or add a Perch bunk bed and you’ve got, well, a perch!
Both Stokke and Oeuf create nursery furniture that’s both stylish and practical. Bringing a bit of chilly Norway (or sunny Paris) to your child’s bedroom is a great way to think ahead: today, it’s a nursery, but kids grow fast!
Meet representatives from Stokke, Oeuf, and other brands at Project Nursery: Boston weekend, from March 1-3 – see the schedule of events for the weekend here. We’ll have some great promotions all weekend long, including a free mattress with every Stokke Sleepi Crib we sell, and we’re giving away Stokke Scoot strollers on Saturday and Sunday, too!
