The benefits of reading to kids from infancy onwards are obvious: they learn vocabulary, they enjoy the pictures, and they love spending the time bonding with you!

But Professor Daniel T. Willingham of the University of Virginia warns parents not to fret too much about teaching kids the alphabet, or starting very early with reading instruction.
