More news stories that give me nightmares

It’s not enough that every single day brings new coverage of the lead paint recalls. Now there are two more stories popping up on the “Most E-mailed” list on Boston.com to make parents (and me) completely nuts.

First, a warning for parents who put their kids in Crocs – be careful on escalators. Apparently the shoes are getting stuck and kids are getting hurt. We sold a lot of these this summer, and my own kids wore them day in and day out. I’m not sure this is worth panicking over yet, but I think it’s important to be aware of the potential for problems. Read the story here.

Second, a report that crib bumpers are dangerous. This isn’t really news, since it has been brewing for a while. I think many parents question why blankets and stuffed animals are verboten but bumpers don’t pose the same threat. Predictably, it turns out they do. But will the bedding companies stop selling them? Will parents stop buying them? Only time will tell. Read the story and sleep well.
