Clek is releasing an Infant Car Seat in 2019: the Clek Liing!

I don’t typically blog, but I thought this topic would be fun.

I just got word that later this year, in 2018, Clek is going to be releasing their first Clek Infant Car Seat. It’s kinda funny because Clek invented car seats in the reverse age order. First launching the Clek Olli backless booster seat over ten years ago, then the Oobr high-back booster, then Clek Foonf Convertible Car Seat with the innovative REACT system, and then the Fllo. It was just a matter of time before they came out with an infant seat.

I have not been able to get a peep out of Clek about details about their new infant seat (and believe me I’ve asked) so here are some thoughts that I’d have purely from my experience and imagination.

First of all, I think it will definitely have Clek DNA. I imagine the look will be similar to a Foonf – probably with a white or black shell, and then likely the new flame-retardant free Merino Wool material and then some more fun colors using the Crypton fabric.

Other features borrowed from other Clek products would be rigid LATCH similar to what’s on the Clek Foonf, and I think a load leg and/or anti-rebound bar. I think having both ISOFIX and a rebound bar is redundant, so I’m thinking a load leg.

The Nuna Pipa Infant Car Seat is so popular right now that I would think that the Clek infant seat would want to be light – or at least under 9 lbs (but closer to 7 would be better), and maybe even have a Dream Drape (though that might be patented).

The Clek Foonf and Fllo don’t have non-retread harnesses (and neither do Nuna Pipa seats), but for this new product I’d think there would be a non-rethread harness. This would add some weight to the seat, but I think parents would like that feature.

I know that Clek is always looking to innovate, so in my mind there will be a “wow” feature that I’ve never seen before, so I’m really excited to see what they cook up. As for price, I’m thinking it’s going to be at the high-end, and I dare to say $399, but more likely $329.
