Best Baby Furniture 2021 ( Ratings Reviews Prices )
Choosing the best nursery furniture doesn’t have to be hard, it should come down to the two most important aspects of furniture: safety and style. At Magic Beans, we’re big proponents of only using the safest materials for a crib, since kiddo will be in their crib more than they’ll be in their stroller, car seat, carrier or bouncer.
The crib components that we think are most important are the wood type and the paints used. Kids can be rough on cribs, especially during their teething phase, so making sure the bars that protect them at night can also withstand their mischievous nights.
Despite all that, you still want your crib to look exceptional in your home so it's important to take stock of both how they look and the materials they use (so you know how long they’ll look that good!). We also love suggesting convertible cribs from these manufacturers because of their proven durability. Let your furniture grow with your child!
Natart is one of the largest North American furniture manufactures, and also one of the cleanest. All of their beds, cribs and furniture are GreenGuard Gold certified, Italian design is met with Canadian manufacturing skills to create some of the longest lasting furniture available. Natart uses solely hardwoods, allowing for their furniture to stand the test of time. They’ve passed the Air Quality Certification, which is an all-encompassing VOC and Phthalates test that ensures the paints and finishes are natural and safe for baby.
Split into Classic, Farmhouse, Modern and Rustic collections, Natart offers something to fit every parent’s style. They offer loads of conversion options, allowing you to use your crib from infancy into adulthood by converting it to a toddler bed or twin bed. With a few exceptions, Natart's cribs tend to lean towards a chunkier design, with bold edges and thick wood pedestals. Their cribs offer many different upholstery styles for the side walls that eventually convert to headboards.
Romina is another incredibly safe furniture company. Also GreenGuard Gold certified on all their furniture, they manufacture using sustainably harvested Beech wood. Romina is constructed in Europe, one of the few furniture manufacturers to do so, with wood sourced from namesake Romania.
Romina's dressers are known for the stress test on their drawers, pushed to the limit with pressure over 65lbs ensures that no matter what you put the drawers through, they’ll withstand a lifetime. Check out our video to see a demonstration of their strength!
With over 17 finishes for many of their 8 collections they too strive to be customizable. With similar stylistic options to Natart, they offer optional upholstery for many of their collections, but do not treat it as much like the centerpiece. They also offer a slew of conversion cribs that become full size beds, as well as the accoutrements to ensure your room is cohesive.
Oeuf is a French-inspired, New York-based company that focuses on creating unique modern pieces for modern spaces. Their cribs are spare, minimalist and gorgeous. They offer traditional cribs, conversion cribs, and even the Fawn, a bassinet that converts to a crib and then a toddler bed.
Their options are simple, affordable and durable. Low VOC paints are used on similar Birch wood construction, making for a durable and clean statement-piece. Their dressers are designed to match the cribs beautifully, with elegant two tone neutral colors and stains. Be sure to check out their incredible modern bookshelf!
Offering many options that convert into toddler beds, they do not offer any that become full size beds.
Stokke takes a different approach to furniture. Focusing on all aspects of baby’s first years, they have created one crib design to fit all scenarios: the Stokke Sleepi. One of the first tru convertible cribs, it offers a bassinet size, crib size, and toddler bed conversion and junior bed kit that keeps it functional until roughly 10 years of age! Starting with the bassinet (and putting it on wheels!) allows for portability in the home, and converts to a traditional crib once baby has begun to roll over.
The aesthetic is unique. Its rounded, classic style is a nod to old world simplicity, but it's modern functionality makes the Sleepi fit for even the tiniest of apartments. The Beech wood construction and low VOC paints offer a safe space for kiddo as long as they fit in it. Multiple color options are available to help it fit any nursery.
Each of these options offers a unique take on the concept of baby furniture, creating statement pieces that are meant to last a lifetime and offer unique character to your space. Still not sure which furniture is right for your family? Reach out to us anytime via email at questions@mbeans.com.
