ENTER TO WIN A BOB REVOLUTION FLEX STROLLER

Spring is one of the best seasons to be a Bostonian. The weather is warming up, the city is starting to bloom, and when you walk down the street you can just feel the community and energy. Our family loves to get outside, rain or shine. Our strollers probably have more miles on them than our car!

jillwithbobOne of my favorite things about Spring is the Boston Marathon. It is an iconic event in our city and something I look forward to every year. When I was a junior at Boston College, I ran the Boston Marathon for charity. It was a great, although intense, experience. After 4 months of training, I can’t remember what my time was but the feeling of crossing that finish line with two of my classmates was like no other.

At the time of last year’s marathon, Reese was 5 months old. Our office was right on the marathon route in Brookline, so I was lucky enough to see many of the runners going by. As I watched all of the determined and fit athletes go by, I couldn’t help but wonder if I would ever run a marathon again?

After I had Reese, I really thought that I would just naturally get my pre-baby shape back. We see so many celebrities and people in the press just “snap” back after having a baby, so I just assumed eating right and being somewhat active would get me there. But at 5 months, I had only lost maybe half the weight I gained. I was breastfeeding and eating well, so shouldn’t it all be gone? And going back to work, balancing a baby and family, AND finding time for the gym was really challenging. After being at the office for 9 hours away from my baby, all I wanted to do was get home to her after work! At the same time, I really wanted to get back in shape and get back to being “me.” Being active and fit has always been a priority and way of life for me, but it was falling by the wayside.

After last year’s marathon, I decided I wanted to do both: spend time with my baby AND get my body back. So I got a BOB Revolution FLEX jogging stroller for our family. Instead of spending 30 minutes on a treadmill after work, I made the decision to spend the time working out AND being with my little girl. Best of both worlds!

The BOB FLEX is great for our family and our outdoor lifestyle. It has large, rugged tires that are great in the snow, on sand, and anything in between. The adjustable suspension gives a smooth push for my husband and I , and a smooth ride for Reese. And when you and your husband have a 10 inch height difference, the adjustable handlebar is a key feature. We can both use it comfortably all the time.

I started out slow, mixing some walking and jogging. The BOB FLEX has a quick adjust lockable front wheel, so I can quickly change to jogging mode once I’m warmed up. Eventually, I worked up to a full 3 mile jog and it felt great! What felt even better was getting in shape while spending time with Reese.

As she has gotten bigger and started walking, I’ve adjusted my workouts to include her more. I love to jog to our local park and let her run around while I do some lunges, burpees, and the like. She looks at me quizzically and laughs a lot. That’s good, right?

One of my favorite places to go near out apartment is the Riverway near Fenway. There is a great trail along the river that has benches every quarter mile or so. A jogging stroller is great for interval training. You can run for 2-3 minutes, then stop and do some pushups or some ab work on a bench, then keep going.

The BOB FLEX is also our stroller of choice when going on vacation. Every February we go to Florida, and the BOB is perfect. It pushes great on the sand, and we love taking family walks to get a bit of exercise.

Fast forward almost a year later, and I’m “back” to where I wanted to be. The best part is that I’ve been able to reach my goals while still spending time with my family. A jogging stroller is a great way for you to get back into shape after baby, and I highly recommend the FLEX. It’s versatile. It’s rugged. It’s fun.

In honor of the marathon and Moms getting in shape everywhere, we are giving one luckily family a BOB FLEX single stroller. Leave a comment about how you love to get active with your kids, and then enter to win here!
