A magical DVD concept

Philosophically, many parents differ when it comes to babies and TV. I have friends on both sides of the issue, and I’ve always taken a middle-of-the-road stance myself. When I was a stay-at-home mom, having a half-hour to check my e-mail, cook dinner or read a magazine was a wonderful luxury, and if Baby Einstein could facilitate that, great. But for the most part, watching a DVD was a passive activity. Until now.

Tiny Love has gained the respect and admiration of parents everywhere with their wildly popular infant toys, including the Gymini and Symphony In Motion mobile, two of our best-selling products. Now, they enter the interactive arena with DVD MagIQ, an incredibly innovative DVD experience. Each set includes a DVD and a stuffed animal (“Active Friend”) that interacts with the DVD on a pretty sophisticated level. The content is very age appropriate and engaging, but not overstimulating, and the interactions between the doll and the DVD are really charming. Right now, the 3-12 month series is available, but soon they will have a 12-36 month version, too. There is also a bonus CD, in case you want to take the soundtrack along with you in the car (woohoo).

When I saw a demonstration of this at a recent trade show, I was really blown away. Maybe it’s not for everyone, but I think this will eventually become as indispensable as the Gymini or the mobile. So try it out; get a cup of coffee and a magazine and watch your baby soak it all in.
