January
often brings cold and snow, so it’s no wonder so many people
have been out and about enjoying the unusually mild temperatures.
But while we do appreciate of the reprieve, we’re also a bit
nostalgic for the fluffy white stuff. Snow can be an inconvenience
for sure, but it’s also a source of memorable family fun (and
photo ops).
Many of you have already taken advantage of our phenomenal stroller
deals, but if you haven’t, we still have some great all-terrain
strollers on sale. Nothing will get you through the snow like a Mountain
Buggy or a Valco,
so if you’ve been thinking about buying one, stop by and talk
to us or visit us online.
We’re proud to be co-sponsoring a worthwhile event this Saturday
at the Coolidge Theater. Financial Planner (and mom) Blythe Meyomesse
is speaking about planning for your child’s education. For more
information, read on.
Our special offer this week is perfect for literary types. Three Bean
Press is a new Boston-based publisher, owned by three talented friends.
They have written, illustrated and published two beautiful children’s
books, including one that takes place right here in Boston.
Finally, if you love Magic Beans, why not tell the world? We have
some suggestions for how you can help spread the word.
Saving Smart
This
Saturday, we’re co-sponsoring a free seminar on education and
retirement planning, hosted by financial advisor Blythe Meyomesse.
RSVP and join us on Saturday, January 28th from 11-11:45 AM in the
MiniMax room at the Coolidge
Corner Theater. Please feel free to arrive any time after 10:45
AM. The room capacity of the MiniMax room is 20 people (adults, children
& babies), so when you RSVP, please let us know how many people
will be joining you.
Blythe is a full time mother as well as a full time financial advisor,
since joining Waddell & Reed in 2005. A graduate of Boston University,
she worked in institutional equity sales from 1990-2000 for Legg Mason,
Morgan Stanley and Hambrecht & Quist. From 2001-2004 she traveled
abroad, settling in West Africa for a few years and worked with the
US Refugee Resettlement Program.
Like all parents, Blythe believes her 19 month old daughter, Giselle,
to be a highly intelligent, gifted child who no doubt will receive
a full scholarship to the college of her choice. But, her backup plan
is to save for Giselle’s education as well as her own retirement
so that she doesn’t have to take orders for double-non-fat soy-vegan-decaf
lattes when she is 85 because she saved too much for college and not
enough for her golden years!
Please RSVP by emailing: bmeyomesse@wradvisors.com

Snow Business
The
snow will come; it’s just a matter of time. We have some great
ideas for enjoying the snow as a family.
It’s probably obvious, but a sled is the best source of fun
in the snow. Don’t get caught without at least one sled in the
house. Remember when you’re sledding with your children to emphasize
safety. We found a very
good list of pointers on the AAOS (American Association of Orthopaedic
Surgeons) website.
Another great snowy day activity is building snow sculptures. You
can actually decorate snow using Snow Paint, which is very easy to
make at home. All you need is a few spray bottles, some food coloring
and water. Just mix a few drops of colors and water in the spray bottles
and then go make some Technicolor snow angels.
Do you have a favorite sledding hill in the Greater Boston
area?
Tell us about it! Email us at beanstalk@mbeans.com
and we’ll publish a list in our next e-Newsletter.
