The good news is, business is booming and we've outgrown our current warehouse. Next week, we're moving to a bigger facility. The great news is, we're having an impromptu sidewalk sale this weekend to clear out some older merchandise before the moving vans arrive. The weather forecast looks good (knock, knock) and we'll have amazing deals on a host of baby gear and toys on both Saturday and Sunday, including out-of-the-box and refurbished strollers, discontinued diaper bags and lots of toys and games. Come early for the best selection.

This past Sunday, six Magic Beans employees ran amidst the crowd at the Brookline Flag Day 5k. Eli Gurock, the co-owner of Magic Beans had challenged his customers, offering store credit to anyone who could beat his time. Twelve optimistic runners accepted Eli’s challenge, and three were successful, with one Team Beans contender, Tyler Burpee, finishing the 3.1 mile course in a blistering 18 minutes and 12 seconds. He came in fourth place overall and won $40 in store credit at Magic Beans.

Eli ran the race in 22 minutes and 21 seconds, a personal best for him. The sun was warm, but our cheering section was very cool. All of the Team Beans runners crossed the finish line, and felt great (though maybe a bit sore). It was a great event and we hope to do it again next year. Start training now, Eli.

It’s hard to believe, but we’re about to celebrate our 3rd birthday. In the past we’ve always done something special to mark the anniversary of our opening, but this year, with the date falling on 07/07/07, we couldn’t resist doing something a little bit special.

At midnight on July 21st, the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series will be released, and millions of Potter fans across the world will finally learn Harry’s fate.  Coolidge Corner will be the place to be on Friday evening July 20th, with the Potterpalooza celebration. Presented by the Coolidge Corner Merchants’ Association, Potterpalooza will be the biggest Harry Potter party in the area. With indoor/outdoor entertainment, special themed dining menus, a Hogwarts Prom, a look-alike contest and dozens of other activities, this promises to be a great night for the entire family. We know our Playscape is a haven for so many of our local customers, but for those who wish there were something more structured, we have some
great news. This fall, My Gym Children's Fitness Center will be opening up in Boston on Commonwealth Avenue just west of the intersection with Babcock Street. This facility will have enrichment classes for kids ages 6 weeks to 13 years, so they'll really have something for everyone. They also do birthday parties every weekend.
